Young Ladysmith/Chemainus Orcas swimmers gain racing experience

Some of the youngest members of the Ladysmith/ Chemainus Orcas Swim Club travelled to Comox earlier month as some gained more competitive experience and others dove into to the water for their first race ever.

Some of the youngest members of the Ladysmith/ Chemainus Orcas Swim Club travelled to Comox earlier month as some gained more competitive experience and others dove into to the water for their first race ever.

Swimmers representing the club at the 10 & Under Challenge hosted by the Comox Valley Aquatic Club included Beckett Dames, Greyson Sweder, Elia Bortolin, Piper Dames, Summer-Anne Doucette, Anna Fairweather, Abigail Hicks, Chloe Hicks, Sarah Hunter England, Taelin Stephen and Keela Taylor.

There were lots of first best times and new best times while Greyson Sweder and Anna Fairweather both achieved 5th place aggregates.

Medallists at the meet were Dames (bronze, 25m backstroke); Sweder ( silver, 50m and 100m freestyle, 25m butterfly, bronze, 100m backstroke and 100m breaststroke); Bortolin (gold, 25m backstroke, 25m breaststroke, silver, 25m freestyle); Fairweather (silver, 200m butterfly, bronze, 100m butterfly, 200 breaststroke, 50 backstroke); Abigail Hicks (silver, 25m butterfly); Chloe Hicks (gold, 25m backstroke, 25m butterfly); Hunter England (gold, 25m freestyle, 25m butterfly, silver, 25m backstroke, bronze, 25m breaststroke); Stephen (gold, 25m breaststroke, bronze, 25m butterfly, 100m individual medley); Taylor (bronze, 25m freestyle, 25m butterfly)
