Young hoopsters hit hardwood at tourney

The Williams Lake Secondary School Thunder’s grade 8 girls basketball team went unbeaten at a tournament in Williams Lake on the weekend.

The Williams Lake Secondary School Thunder’s Grade 8 girls basketball team went unbeaten at a tournament in Williams Lake on the weekend.

The Thunder claimed three wins and no losses beating Columneetza secondary, 100 Mile junior secondary and Quesnel junior secondary, 38-27, in the final. Danika Robson and Laura Pfleiderer came up big in the win for WLSS.

The Columneetza Cougars Grade 8 girls finished their tournament with one win and two losses. The Cougars win came against 100 Mile junior.

On the Grade 8 boys side the Cougars beat 100 Mile House, but fell in a tightly-contested game, 46-38, to Quesnel junior secondary in the final.

The tournament began Friday and wrapped up Saturday at Columneetza secondary.
