Winners crowned

The duo of Ralph Johnson and Paul Reid carded a best ball 138 to claim the Spall Cup last weekend at the Spallumcheen Golf & Country Club.

The duo of Ralph Johnson and Paul Reid carded a best ball 138 to claim the Spall Cup last weekend at the Spallumcheen Golf & Country Club.

Johnson, a longtime maintenence employee at Spall, and Reid, a former club champion, won $200 by defeating Bill Copeland and Ken Bentham ($125) by two strokes and Don Howe and Paul Holton ($75) by three. The same payouts were dealt in all four flights.

There was a field of 32 teams with gross scores counting in flights one through three and gross and low nets registered in the fourth flight.

Garney Howard and Charlie Briskham won $200 in the second flight with a 142, three strokes up on Doug Kuhn and Dyck Regier and seven ahead of Garth Wells and Alf Head.

Men’s club captain Bob Shannon and Greg Humphreys fashioned a 155 to share first place cash in the third flight with Roger Berger and Gary Swanson. Jim Arthur and Gary Corke were third at 156.

In the fourth flight, Bruce Rasmussen and Wayne Brown took the low gross at 155, while Dennis Mori and Frank Hamilton were low net champs at 131.6, followed by Harry Bowker and Jeff Parker at 134.4.
