Wakeboard action returns to Albert Dyck Memorial Park starting today (Friday) with the Canadian Wakeboard and Straight-line Championships.

The top athletes on the water are coming to Abbotsford starting today (Friday).

The 2016 Canadian Wakeboard and Straight-line Championships brings riders of all ages and ability levels to Abbotsford’s Valley Wake Park and Walmsley Lake at Albert Dyck Memorial Park to battle it out.

Divisions competing at the event include junior boys, junior girls, open women and open men. All groups will be competing for the Canadian championship, as well as a sport on the 2017 Canadian National Team.

Today’s opening day features boat division action on the west ski dock on the lake. Races kick off at 8:30 a.m. with junior boys, and runs all the way till 6 p.m. with men’s semi-finals.

Action continues on Saturday with boat division finals from Friday’s races wrapping up starting at 8 a.m. Also on Saturday is straight-line action running from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with all age divisions featured.

The final day of action on Sunday features open finals in both boat and straight-line divisions, with boat activity running from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and straight-line going from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
