Wagner pots three, Trappers ground Pilots

Three goals from Nicholas Wagner helps Langley return to win column

Three goals from Nicholas Wagner help the Langley Trappers snap a two-game losing skid.

The Trappers defeated the Abbotsford Pilots 5-2 on Wednesday night at the George Preston Recreation Centre. Langley was coming off a 5-0 loss the night before to the Delta Ice Hawks.

Wagner and Brendan Black — and Abbotsford’s Cameron Obcena — had goals through the first 40 minutes on Wednesday before the Trappers blew the game open with three goals in a span of 4:11 midway through the third, with Wagner tallying twice and Dustin Withrow getting the other.

The line of Wagner, Colin Cromie (three assists) and Hollander Thompson (two assists) finished with a combined eight points.

Jacob De Waal would get one back for the Pilots but Keaton Dyck would not be beat again, finishing with 30 saves.

Langley improved to 14-21-1-2 and their 31 points have them third in the PJHL’s Harold Brittain Conference. The Pilots (21-12-1-3) sit in second place.

The Trappers are back in action on Jan. 24 as they host the Surrey Knights at the Preston Recreation Centre.
