The discs were flying in Clearbook Park on Saturday at the Abbotsford Trilogy Challenge disc golf tournament.
The event drew 57 competitors ranging in age from eight to 65, with prizes awarded to the top two finishers in each division.
Abbotsford Mission Disc Golf Club treasurer Dave Darling said the event was a success, and that he hopes to build local interest in the sport.
“It means a lot to the AMDGC to get exposure of the sport for the city to approve a permanent course here for everyone to enjoy, ” he said. “A side note as well is we received 11 discs (with more to come) and $75 (towards purchasing discs) to donate to School District 34. I’ll be contacting the district in the next week or so to present them with this offering.”
Division winners at the event included: Mission’s Stewart Mcisack (gold), Langley’s Wes McIntosh (blue), Richmond’s Andrew Hawkes (white), Coquitlam’s Jeff Schmittlutz (red), Abbotsford’s Dave Heidebrecht (green) and North Vancouver’s Dave Beckley (purple).
