V.I. Raiders taking to their home field for the first time this summer

Raiders play the Kamloops Broncos on Saturday, Aug. 17, at Caledonia Park

Two teams will be playing hard to try for their first win of the season this weekend.

The V.I. Raiders (0-2) host the Kamloops Broncos (0-2) in B.C. Football Conference action Saturday, Aug. 17, in the first action of the season at Caledonia Park.

The Raiders will be looking to rebound from a loss to their rival Westshore Rebels this past weekend. The V.I. Raiders lost 39-30 to the Westshore Rebels in B.C. Football Conference action on Saturday in Victoria.

The Raiders led 23-10 at halftime and 30-26 after three quarters, but couldn’t stay on top in the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Jake Laberge scored two rushing touchdowns and passed 5-for-20 for 156 yards with two TDs and two interceptions. Jared Braun and Mike West caught TD passes and Eli Nelms-Horton had 98 receiving yards.

On defence, Zach Taylor had five tackles and Ethan Moran, Nathan Cayouette and Jérémie Cheng had interceptions. Matt Hill had a sack.

GAME ON … The Raiders host the Kamloops Broncos on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 2 p.m. at Caledonia Park. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $8 for students.
