UVic Vikes men’s squad in CanWest basketball semifinals

Vikes down to the final four in Canada West men's play

The nationally No. 4-ranked University of Victoria Vikes tip off in the Canada West conference men’s basketball semifinals tomorrow afternoon (Feb. 28) in Edmonton against University of Fraser Valley.

The Vikes erased a 1-0 series deficit to win two straight games last weekend against the Winnipeg Wesmen to advance to the semis. The winner between the Vikes and the Cascades plays the winner between Alberta and Saskatchewan on Saturday.

The clincher in last weekend’s series was a 76-63 Vikes win at McKinnon Gym last Sunday. Terrell Evans led the home team with 23 points and nine rebounds, while teammate Chris McLaughlin added 19 points and 10 rebounds.

The Vikes women were eliminated two straight by the Cougars in their quarter-final series in Regina last weekend. The Cougars won 82-68 to end the Vikes’ season.
