The two-day tourney was held in North and West Vancouver. The Salmon Arm team, coached by Steve Murphy, was the only representation from the Interior. The girls won three and dropped three, including the final versus Sutherland, which was lost in penalty shots. The games were played on short artificial turf – something the Jewels weren’t used to. Second game in, the Jewels lost Mairin Idzan to a leg injury. Kairo Mair came out of the Ringette Nationals to make a difference, lending fresh legs to the limited line up. Bella Cervantes and Maia McDonald were the star players up front, making key goals. Kayla Byers, Marin Faulkner, Megan Rolin and Brooke Rogers provided a strong defensive line, backed by solid goal keeping from Emily Murphy and Jane Chorneyko. Scores were as follows: wins – 1-0, 3-1, 2-1; losses – 0-2, 3-0, 3-1.
