Captain Canuck is coming to the Comox Valley.

First Insurance has announced that former Vancouver Canuck standout Trevor Linden will be in Courtenay on Thursday, Oct. 18 with fans having two opportunities to see and hear the NHL all-star and Canuck MVP.

From 3:30- to 4:30 p.m. at First Insurance on 8th St. in downtown Courtenay Linden will talk about his experiences in the NHL, leadership and community involvement.

That will be followed by some road hockey with the winners of a road hockey scrimmage contest. At 6:45 p.m. at the Comox Valley Sports Centre, Linden will drop the puck at the Comox Valley Glacier Kings alumni game. A Glacier Kings’ spokesperson said the team is currently compiling a list of players for the game.

From now until Oct. 12 First Insurance is taking entries from children 6-14 that are interested in playing road hockey with Linden. To enter, come to any First Insurance location.

“From these entries the lucky players will be chosen, and on Oct. 18 they’ll face off against Trevor himself!” First Insurance notes on their website. For more details, see www.firstins.ca.
