Towhees trounce Alberni

The GP Vanier Towhees senior boys basketball team defeated Port Alberni 111-53 in its home opener, Tuesday at the Vanier gym.

The GP Vanier Towhees senior boys basketball team defeated Port Alberni 111-53 in its home opener, Tuesday at the Vanier gym.

Everyone scored for Vanier, who out-rebounded their visitors by 40.

Sidney Woodrow, a 6’6″ post, led the home team with 21 points and 19 rebounds. Forward Jeff Powell scored 16 points and five rebounds, 6’8″ forward Peter Greaves had 14 points and seven rebounds, guard Jakob Tortorelli chipped in 14 points, and 6’6″ forward Justin Watt contributed nine points and five rebounds.

The Towhees compete in the 16-team North Shore tournament Thursday to Saturday at Carson Graham in North Vancouver.
