Thunderbirds offence grounded

After three goals in first 15 minutes, Fraser Valley can't find back of the net over next 110 minutes

After scoring three times in the opening 15 minutes, the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds were blanked over the final five periods and one overtime session, dropping a pair of games to the Kootenay Ice.

The major midget hockey teams were playing at the Richmond Oval over the weekend as part of the BC Major Midget Hockey League Showcase.

The Ice won 4-3 in overtime and then 3-0 as the T-Birds saw their record fall to 1-2-0-1.

Blake Bonnar led Fraser Valley with two goals and and an assist while Dylan Debrun scored once and set up another in the defeat.

The Thunderbirds will look to return to the win column as they play a pair of games in Nanaimo this weekend against the North Island Silvertips.
