Fun in sun

It’s pretty obvious that a  beautiful warm sunny day is what it takes to bring out the Glacier Greens Tuesday Ladies for a round of golf.

On June 25 the weather forecast wasn’t great, perhaps explaining why there were only two ladies who actually braved the elements and played 18 holes.

On July 2, 28 ladies showed up to play. T’was my kind of golf…..we only had to count the odd holes, so if you were lucky, you only messed up on the even holes!.

In the winners circle on the gross side, were: 1st Brenda Livingstone 40, Kelly Gibb 42, Janet Edwards 43. On the net side: 1st Rosslyn O’ Rourke 30.5, Lori Cameron 31.5, Connie Alexa 32.

Low putts with 29, went to Janet Edwards. KPs went to Leslie Hauser #4 and Jean Tonks #15 Norene Wells joined us as a guest today.

We welcome any lady golfer who would like to join us on a Tuesday, you don’t have to be a member of Glacier Greens, or any other course for that matter. For more information contact Rosslyn at

Canada Day

The Crown Isle ladies enjoyed a sunny and hot “red and white” Canada Golf Day on Tuesday.  Not only did we have a gorgeous day on the course but we were treated to lunch, dessert and coffee on the decks of a  spectacular penthouse in Corinthia Estates.

The game was even holes playing from the reds and odd holes playing from the whites, two low net scores for each hole from each team.

First low net team – 124 Linda Glanville, Mathilde Schneider, Linda Foreman, and Iris Petersen. Second low net team – 128 Margaret Foreman, Pauline Yelland, Shirley Ketter, and Diane Hardie.

Third low net team – 131 Pam Stevens, Donna Wilson, Donna Cunliffe and Raelene Robertson. Par 5s – Judy Aldcroft #10 and Linda Foreman #5 and #10. KPs – Sheila van Giesbergen #12 and Jean Wharton #7.

The rainy weather for Crown Isle Ladies Nine and Wine on Wednesday kept the numbers down but those who golfed were treated to very little rain, great prizes and good food. Ev Shaw won low net and Iris Petersen won low gross. Thanks so much to the sponsors.

The next Ladies Nine and Wine is July 24. Call the pro shop at 250-703-5031 to register.

Mixing it up

Glacier Greens Friday Night Mixed Golf has started again and on June 28 we had enough hardy golfers to make the event a fun night.

We even had one of our team captains give backstroke lessons in the creek on #3 – but not intentionally. Fun was had by all.

The team winners were Mario Guitard, Bob Mowat, Susan Guitard and Margurite Founier. Closest to the pin were Margurite Founier and Norm Fellbaum sponsored by Jo Klassen Restaurant, Plates Eatery & Catering and Locals Restaurant.

Thanks to our sponsors for their support. See you next Friday; sign up by 5 p.m.

Quiet night

It was a quiet Tuesday for Glacier Greens Men’s Night last week, only 29 golfers came out (perhaps due to the threat of rain).
