Saddle up for Watch Lake-Green Lake Gymkhana

Strap on your boots, throw on your cowboy hats and get ready to ride

The Watch Lake-Green Lake Gymkhana will be kicking into high gear on July 9 at the gymkhana grounds west of Little Horse Lodge on North Green Lake Road.

The equestrian event will feature competitive and novelty categories for all ages.

Registration will be at 10:30 a.m. and the main events begin at noon.

The competition has four age groups: peewee (ages three-10) who pay $1 to enter each event; and juniors (11-14), intermediates (15-18) and seniors (19 and over) for $2 entry fee.

The main events will consist of pole bending, stake, barrel and keyhole racing. There will also be musical tires and ribbon races as novelty events.

Ribbons will be awarded to the top 4 competitors in each event. Money prizes will be awarded to first-place winners.

Day aggregates will be taken for all divisions.

Overall aggregates for total points at the July and August event will also be taken for all divisions.

Concession will be available.

Admission is $2 fee for the general public and there is no fee for children six years and under. Overnight camping will be available for contestants and families.
