Rupert hosts annual ladies’ bonspiel

Seven local teams participated in the two-day tournament

The Prince Rupert Curling Club threw down in its annual ladies bonspiel Dec. 1-2.

Seven teams from Prince Rupert participated in the two-day event which was took place in a round robin format.

The bonspiel’s two top teams both finished 4-0 in the round robin format with the winner being determined by point differential.

First place went to the Aina Pettersen rink, which was sponsored by Wainwright Marine. The team consisted of lead Jennifer Diaz, second Christy Lauzon, third Michele Bartel and skip Pettersen.

Second place went to the Mona Izumi rink which was sponsored by Home Hardware. The team consisted of leads Alana Rice and Sharon Rothwell, second Pat Scott, third Natasha Lebedick and Skip Mona Izumi.

The third and fourth place teams also had identical records of 3-1 with the winner being determined by point differential.

The Holkestad rink edged out their third place finish by narrowly beating the Yamamoto rink. The Holkestad rink, which was sponsored by Cooks Jewelers, consists of lead Erin Grey, second Michele Hearty, third Sheryl Forssell and Skip Shawna Holkestad. The Yamamoto rink consists of lead Joy Sundin, second Janice Macphee, third Barb Diaz and Skip Kathy Yamamoto.
