The host Vernon Christian Royals gained a split in North Zone Senior A Girls Volleyball play Tuesday night.

The Royals brushed back the Eagle River Talons of Sicamous 25-18, 21-25, 15-8 before the Charles Bloom Timberwolves stopped the Royals 25-10, 29-27, 17-15.

Charles Bloom rallied past the Talons 18-25, 25-15, 15-11 in other round-robin league play at Vernon Christian.

“We hit well but the Timberwolves were relentless in their pursuit of the ball,” said Royals’ coach Jason Reedyk. “It was a good learning experience going to extra points in the last two sets.”

In North Zone senior AA play, the Fulton Maroons iced the George Elliot Coyotes of Lake Country 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-22) Tuesday night.

Nazarena Wurz recorded eight kills, Brittany Skrenek rang up two stuff blocks and Meghan Rouault earned four kills for the 3-0 Maroons.

Nicole Olson and Erin Sakamoto ran the Fulton offence at the setter’s position.

Next action for the Maroons is today at the 48-team Kelowna Best of the West Tournament.

In pool play, Fulton plays Salisbury Composite Sabres of Sherwood Park, Princess Margaret Mustangs of Penticton and Mt. Baker Trojans of Cranbrook.

“It looks like a strong pool and it will be great to go up against No. 8 provincially ranked AA Princess Margaret prior to the AA playoffs in November,” said Fulton head coach Sharon Shaigec.

Fulton’s invitational goes Nov. 7-8 featuring eight teams, including the VSS Panthers and Kalamalka Lakers.
