The Golden Rockets were unable to beat out the Kimberly Dynamiters on Saturday night at the arena in Golden.

The Kimberly Dynamiters were able to score four goals in the first period against the Rockets, without the home team retaliating.

By the end of the second period, the Rockets continued to fight, but Kimberly fought harder, ending the period 6-0.

After Kimberly scored again in the third period, Nick Runnalls landed the puck into their net, bringing the score up 7-1, assisted by Jake Gudjonson and Shawn Grobowsky. In th same period, Kimberly scored another two goals, ending the night with a 9-1 win against the Golden Rockets.

Rockets goalie Colton Iwaschuk started out the evening in net, taking a break at the beginning of the second period to let associate player Izzy Palumbo have her turn.

After a few good saves, and a couple goals sneaking in, Iwaschuk was back in the net to finish the game.

Palumbo is becoming a well-known hockey star in Golden and across Canada, as she is one of only a few young female hockey players to play at the Junior B level on an all boys team.

Hockey fans cheered her on as she took the ice in the second period.

Palumbo was set to play again on Wednesday night at the Rockets Women’s Recognition Night.
