Parksville Qualicum Beach athletes back on track

Registration for junior development athletes is on March 6 at Ballenas Secondary

Track and field season is starting up in Parksville Qualicum Beach.

The Oceanside Track and Field Club is holding spring registration for junior devlopment athletes aged nine years to 13 years old on March 6 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ballenas Secondary School. The club AGM will follow at 7 p.m.

Athletes from both high schools and elementary schools are encouraged to join. Practice for junior development will start on April 3 and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at the Ballenas track from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

For those wishing to join the Ballenas Secondary and Kwalikum Secondary track teams may contact Robyn Elliott at Ballenas Secondary. Practices will be Tuesday and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the BSS track.

The Mid-Island Distance Club is also open to all Grade 8 and older athletes in mid-Vancouver Island who love to run cross-country or middle distance and long distance on the track. The coaches are Kim and Randy Longmuir. Practice is every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at BSS track.
