Salmon Arm skier Mitch Smith placed second in the slalom race in Kimberley on Feb 9. Despite torrential rain and fog, the race went on, although the super G and downhill were cancelled due to a soft course making it too dangerous. Smith placed second in the U18 clases, and fourth overall in the open men’s class. Competitors came from B.C., Alberta, USA and Japan. Next Smith will compete in Calgary in a NorAm event against competitors from all over the world.
