The Town of Ladysmith’s department of Parks, Recreation, and Culture (PRC) has developed a creative approach to keep residents active during self-isolation and physical distancing.
“Park, Recreation and Culture are an amazing and passionate team so transitioning to offering online content and classes to the community came naturally to our motivated team of instructors,” CAO, Guillermo Ferrero said.
“Hundreds of individuals and families pass through the doors of Frank Jameson Community Centre every day so we understood there would be a void to fill as people self-isolating at home experienced a significant change in their daily routines and social lives.”
Some upcoming PRC programs include: kitchen strength and stability for older adults, high intensity interval training, bodyweight blast, and making magic bubble paint. New content can be accessed daily through the Ladysmith Parks, Recreation & Culture Facebook page. There are no requirements or applications necessary to participate and engage with the content.
PRC online programming will continue throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Ferrero said the Town will continue to evaluate their online programming, and would appreciate any feedback from the community on the programs.
