Ladies golf: Awards netted out for final ladies event

Awards netted out for final ladies event Alberni golf.

The Ladies Nine-Hole Division hosted the final activities for this year.

A lovely lunch was chaired by division president, Lorraine Wilson.

A great turnout with ladies eagerly looking forward to receiving awards accumulated over the last six months or so.

We noted that we did get  off to a slow start with the weather but now it seems it’ll go on forever…and we’re thankful for that.

Lorraine’s thank you’s covered every spectrum of our golf world and we all echoed her kind words.

Most Birdies over the season went to LaDonna Knutson, Lorraine Wilson, Marta Williamson and Kathy Toms.

Most Chip-ins over the season: Betty Adair.

Best game on the Ringer Board was taken by Sharon Hillman.

Mary Dyson presented her own trophy for the Best Handicap Reduction which was won by Kathy Toms.

The Helen Weaver Trophy for the best 10 putts was won by Marie Swain.  Sharon Hillman was also front and centre to win the Isobel Pearson Trophy for the most pars this year.

Bea Stuyt, our newest member, took the best attendance award.

Raffle Prizes were donated by members and were won by Sharon Haggard, Katy Cyr, Claudia Romaniuk, Teresa Cutting, Lorraine Wilson, Sandra Simpson and Katy Lekitch.

Teresa Cutting walked away with the 50/50 pot ($35).

Presentations for the 18-Hole Division members: Field Day A-Division,  Bea Kullman Trophy went to Anna Marie Krikke. B Division-Coastal Community Credit Union to Doreen Grant

Monthly Medal winner was won by Marie Randall. Handicap Cup B flight runner up-Leona Fowler winner – Janice Cross. A flight runner up – Marie Randall, winner-Anna Marie Krikke.

Master’s Cup B flight runner up – Katie Cyr, winner – Teresa Cutting. A flight runner up – Carol Hastings, winner – Patsy Gauthier.

Summer Trophy runner up – Carol Hastings, winner – Pat Nicklin.

Par Bowl runner up-Doreen Grant, winner – Leona Fowler. Putts (based on 14 best putting scores throughout the season) runner up-Leona Fowler with 432, winner – Kathy White with 431.

Chip-Ins (tied with four each) Shirley Goodman and Gayle Rhodes.

Handicap Reduction – this is a real honour to win.

This trophy was established in 1936.  Congratulations go out to Marie Randall, who brought her handicap index down from 22.7 to 19.3.

18 Hole Division Championship: Senior Net is Carol Hastings, third; Marie Randall, second; and Sandra Simpson, first place.  Senior Gross is Gayle Rhodes, third; Anna Marie Krikke, second; and Carol Bouchard, first.

Overall winner in the Net Category is Pat Nicklin. Top gross was Janice Cross.
