Karran scores in OT as Leafs edge Kamloops Storm

Karran's goal lifted Nelson to a 5-4 win

Jack Karran scored in overtime as the Nelson Leafs edged the Storm 5-4 on Thursday in Kamloops.

Karran’s power-play goal 51 seconds into OT became necessary after Kamloops forward Therann Kincross forced extra time by scoring with just four seconds left in regulation.

Logan Wullum, Nicholas Onofrychuk, Reid Wilson and Tyler Nypower also scored for the Leafs (20-9-1), while Hunter Young finished with a 43-save performance.

Kincross got a hat trick for the Storm (10-16-2), while James Lalikeas also scored and goaltender Ethan Paulin-Hatch stopped 26 shots.

The game was Nelson’s first of the KIJHL College Showcase in Kamloops. The Leafs next play Friday morning against the Princeton Posse, also in Kamloops.
