The Kamloops Storm blew through Quesnel for its final time on Feb. 9-10, facing off against the 100 Mile House Wranglers and the Kelowna Chiefs.
The Friday night Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) game against 100 Mile saw the Kamloops team win 2-1 against its longtime rival.
The Storm’s Curtis Magas scored in the second period, with assists from Hayden Dick and Reid Perepeluk.
In the third period, Quesnel player Brett Mero scored with assists from Therann Kincross and Hayden Hirsch.
The 100 Mile House goal was scored by James Gordon, from Joel Patsey and Rob Raju, also in the third period.
Saturday night’s game brought the Kelowna Chiefs to Quesnel for the first time.
The Chiefs ended up beating the Storm 4-3 in overtime after a well-fought game.
Quesnel’s Brett Mero scored the first goal of the night in period 1, from fellow Quesnel player Yewta Plamondon and Jacob Callas.
Kelowna replied with its own goal, as one of the Chiefs’ Quesnel players, Brody Dale, scored with assists from Juanre Naude and Devin Sutton.
The second and third periods followed the same pattern.
In period 2, Kamloops’ Dick scored at 16:51 from Kincross and Ethan King, and Kelowna’s Isaac Dutka scored at 4:29 from Cole Williams and Lane Paddison.
In the third period, it came down to the wire with the Storm’s Dick scoring at 1:17 with assists from Magas and Kaine Comin, and Kelowna’s Zach Erhardt following that with a goal at 0:40, from Brett Witala and Aidan Bar-Lev-Wise.
In overtime, Kelowna came out on top after Erhardt scored his second goal of the night, from Dale and Sutton.
The games marked the final KIJHL games the Storm were scheduled to play in Quesnel.
