Juan de Fuca women’s soccer showdown a close battle

United wins latest round of West Shore's Div. 1 Lower Island league sides

Addy Fearnley’s goal with about 10 minutes to go Sunday proved the winner as Juan de Fuca United beat Juan de Fuca FC 1-0 in Lower Island Women’s Soccer Association play Sunday at Westhills Stadium.

The scoreless draw was broken when Fearnley sent a chip shot over the FC goalkeeper.

The win was just the second of the season for United (2-6-4), which pulled within two points of eighth-place Vic West FC in the Division 1 standings. JdF FC fell to 4-5-5 and sits in sixth place.
