Pool now on fall schedule


The Grand Forks Aquatic Centre is now open with the fall schedule in place.

The public swim fall schedule is as follows: Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8 12:30 p.m. Afternoon and evenings hours are Monday to Wednesdays from 5 until 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 5 until 9 p.m. The popular Toonie night is back on Fridays only from 5 until 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday the pool is open from 1 – 5 p.m.

The admission for the last hour of the evening from Monday to Thursday is just $2 per person. Come in and enjoy a soak in the hot tub, sit in the sauna or schedule a swim or workout for a reduced rate during this time.


Arena a busy place


The Jack Goddard Memorial Arena is busy these days with the drop-in skating and hockey programs in full swing.

Parents can bring the little ones out for a free skate during the Parent and Tot Skate and Play program on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10:15 – 11:15 a.m.

Adult only skate is scheduled on Thursday afternoons from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.

The popular Toonie public skate sessions are back for another season. They are scheduled on Tuesday afternoons from 3:45 – 4:45 p.m. and again Fridays from 1:45 – 3:30 p.m.

Sunday afternoon regular public skating session is scheduled from 3 – 5 p.m. This session will be canceled due to Border Bruin games.

Senior drop-in hockey for 65+ is held Monday and Wednesday from 9 – 10 a.m. and 55+ Tuesday and Thursdays from 9 – 10 a.m.

Adult drop-in hockey is held on Friday afternoons from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. and again on Sunday evenings from 5:15 – 6:15 p.m.

Kids can play pick-up hockey on Fridays every Friday morning from 11:15 – 12:15 p.m. This session is non-contact and full gear is required. There is a supervisor on the ice during this session.

The Grand Forks Border Bruins will be back in action and rocking their barn on Friday as they take on the Beaver Valley Night Hawks. Come out and cheer on the boys and enjoy some fast action hockey. Game time is at 7 p.m.


Run is a fun event


The Kettle River Running group and GFREC have partnered together to offer a fun trail run which includes hiking trails, the old rail grade, a little pavement and a spectacular view.

The annual Station to Station 10 km Fun Run is scheduled on Tuesday, Sept. 27th at 5 p.m. The event starts and finishes at the Station Pub. There is no cost for event but we ask that you call to register.
