The Freschi rink made a stunning comeback to collect its first win of the fourth draw in Trail Retiree Men’s curling last week.
The Secco foursome got off to a great start, scoring three in the first end and two in the second to go up 5-0. After trading single points in the next two ends, the Freschi team went on the offensive, scoring three in the fifth, stealing two in the sixth and one in the seventh end. The Freschi rink purloined another point in the eighth end to win 8 – 6 over Secco.
The Rakuson rink started out well, scoring two in the first end but the Jewitt team then shut them down after that and scored big in the following four ends. It was handshakes after five ends and a 10 – 2 win for the Jewitt foursome.
The Koyanagi rink gave up four in the fourth end to go down 6 – 3 to Bamford, but clawed back to trail by one in the eighth end. Without hammer and despite some outstanding shot making by Bamford, Koyanagi managed to steal one the eighth end for an 8-8 tie.
In a close match up between Gould and Trozzo rinks, Lefty Gould made two nice raised takeouts in the second and fourth ends to score.
But the Trozzo foursome broke the game open in the seventh with three ender and cruised home with a 9-5 win.
With Larry Martin skipping the Drinnan foursome against Horan rink, it was Martin’s highlight reel shot in the first end that set the tone of the game. In a one-sided affair, the Drinnan rink defeated Horan 10 – 0
