Michigan Tech broke out for a 10-goal weekend and Salmon Arm SilverBacks alum Shane Hanna had a lot to do with it.
The Huskies’ freshman defenceman notched three assists for the weekend in helping Tech to a road sweep of Bowling Green.
Hanna got all three of his helpers in Friday’s 5-2 victory and was plus-two for the game. He didn’t get on the score sheet in Saturday’s 5-4 overtime win but was on the ice for Blake Pietila’s game-winning goal.
Hanna is now fourth in Huskies scoring with two goals and 12 assists on the season.
He had 15 goals and 60 assists in 108 career British Columbia Hockey League games.
The Salmon Arm native was an Interior Conference all-star last season and led all BCHL defencemen in scoring with 12 goals and 39 assists.
Both Hanna and MIchigan Tech forward David Johnstone were named WCHA Players of the Week. Hanna also earned Rookie of the Week in December.
