Winter fishing in Sooke has been consistently good.

The best fishing for winter chinook/spring salmon has been right out front of the Sooke Harbour mouth and the Bluffs area.

Most trollers are running the gear on the bottom in 100 to 140ft of water, trolling small glow green and white spoons or hootchies.

Crabbing continues to be good with some nice large male Dungeness Crabs moving around the Harbour.

Saltwater anglers are eagerly awaiting a recreational halibut fishing opening notice, which is expected soon.
