Female rep Midgets go 1-1-2 in Kamloops

The Northern Eagles improved through 'A' tournment

The Northern Eagles girls Midget rep team played in Kamloops last weekend in an ‘A’ Midget tournament.

Still in the early stages, the team didn’t advance past pool play, but improved through the tournament and ended with a 1-1-2 record.

Their first game was a tough 9-1 loss to Kelowna on Friday, and then early Saturday morning the girls faced Williams Lake, losing by a close 1-2.

Next up, the Eagles tied South Island 1-1 and they ended with 6-4 win against North Island.

Team manager Tracey Turko said it always takes a game for the girls to get flowing as a team, since they don’t practice together, but the improved their forecheck over the course of the tournament.

“They focused on the forecheck, and it was very obvious in the scores of the last three games,” said Turko.

The female rep Midget team has players from Vanderhoof to Whitehorse, with this tournament suiting up players from Whitehorse, Prince George and Terrace. From Terrace were Chloe Allison, Teagan deJong, Kiera Mulder, and Emily Korving.
