The Credo Christian Kodiaks pulled off the upset, rallying from a half-time deficit to defeat the Kelowna Christian Knights 62-57 on Friday afternoon.
The Kodiaks were the fourth seed and the Knights the top seed at the B.C. 1A senior boys provincial basketball championships at the Langley Events Centre.
And Kelowna Christian led for the first half, taking a 18-9 lead after one quarter and a 31-26 at the half.
But the Kodiaks took control in the third quarter, taking the lead into the fourth and then pulling ahead by a dozen points. The final score was 62-57.
With the win, Credo Christian advanced to the championship game on Saturday afternoon (1:30 p.m.) in the LEC’s Arena Bowl.
Win or lose, the Kodiaks are guaranteed a school-best finish as they had twice previously finished in fourth place, most recently in 2015.
