The Cowichan Bulldogs return to the field this coming weekend to kick off the 2019 fall football season.

The midget and bantam teams will look to build on strong seasons last year when they get into action at McAdam Park on Sunday.

The midget Bulldogs will get things underway first when they host the Victoria Spartans at noon, and the Cowichan bantams will follow that up with a home date against the Vancouver Westside Warriors at 2 p.m.

The midget Bulldogs reached the Vancouver Mainland Football League semifinals last fall, while the bantams exceeded expectations by winning the Island title before taking silver in the provincial final.

Cowichan teams have switched back and forth between playing nine- and 12-man football for the last few seasons, but the decision was made for both Bulldogs teams this year as the VMFL dropped all 12-man football and went exclusively to nine-man.
