Comox Valley rinks takes top honours at Nanaimo Junior Bonspiel

A Comox Valley rink swept top honours at the Nov. 5 Nanaimo Junior Bonspiel.

The girls’ team of Chanelle Meeres, Bryn Woloshyn, Keelie Duncan and Gracelyn Richards    went 3-0, winning by margins of 8-0, 10-3 and 8-2.

Not only did they win the bonspiel, but they were also voted by the players, parents and coaches of the other teams as the Most Sportsmanlike Team.  This is pretty amazing given the gap in the scores.

The team has been together for a couple of years now, but all of the girls are in their fifth or sixth year of curling. They range in age from 11 to 13.

The girls will be playing in seven bonspiels this year, including the Comox Valley Junior Bonspiel on Nov. 19.  They are also attempting to qualify for provincials at the Juvenile Playdowns in January.
