Comox judoka wins silver

Comox judoka Makayla Sanzana, 13, won a silver medal in the U16 division at the Edmonton International, where more than 850 athletes competed.

Comox judoka Makayla Sanzana, 13, won a silver medal in the U16 division at the Edmonton International, where more than 850 athletes competed.

Makayla’s division had 16 girls. She faced an American in the final. They where going toe-to-toe until both of them fell over. Makayla fell on her head and suffered a concussion.

Her younger sister, Dakota, was injured in her first fight and had to pull out of the compenition due to a back injury.

Next stop is nationals in Calgery.
