Chilliwack adds prospect Lucas Sorace to future Chiefs D

The Port Moody product suited up for one BCHL game with Chilliwack during the 2019-20 season

The Chilliwack Chiefs will be adding a youngster to the defence next season.

Lucas Sorace, a 2004-born defender from Port Moody, will join the BCHL club full time in 2021-22 after serving as an affiliate player during the 2019-20 season.

Sorace suited up for a late season home game against Langley in February 2020. He spent most of that year with the Burnaby Winter Club Elite 15 program, posting six goals and 15 assists.

Sorace is currently suiting up for the North East Chiefs U18 squad, playing for coach Jamie Jackson.

“Lucas is a quality prospect who has continued to work to improve his game,” said Chiefs associate coach and assistant GM Brad Rihela. “He is a great skater who plays a competitive style of game, we are really excited to continue to work with him as he pursues his goal of obtaining an NCAA scholarship.”

“I believe that Chilliwack is the best program for me to continue my development and improve my game because of the quality of the coaching staff and training facilities,” Sorace added. “I’m looking forward to getting started next season.”
