Chris Turner backstops Kelowna to shutout win over Osoyoos Saturday in Rutland

The Kelowna Chiefs will look to make it two in a row over the Okanagan Division-leading Osoyoos Coyotes when the teams face off in KIJHL action Friday night.

Face off at the Sun Bowl in Osoyoos is 7 p.m.

The Chiefs rode the netminding of Chris Turner to a 2-0 victory over the Coyotes Saturday night at Rutland Arena.

The 19-year-old goaltender stopped 38 shots for his second shutout of the season. Carter Melnyk had a goal and as assist for Kelowna, Josh Kobelka had the other goal, while Braeden Cyra had a pair of assists.

It was confidence-boosting victory for the Chiefs who lost 4-1 a night earlier against the hometown North Okanagan Knights.

On Saturday, Kelowna will see the Knights again, this time at Rutland Arena.

It will be the Chiefs’ final game prior to the Christmas break.

The Chiefs (13-16-2-1) are fourth in the Okanagan Division, one point back of Princeton.
