An Olympic distance race is joining the Challenge Penticton lineup July 23.

Athletes can sign up for a 1.5 kilometre swim; 45-km bike and 10.5-km run held in tandem with the Challenge Penticton half distance triathlon.

B78 and Get Ugly Racing will host the only official ITU Multisport World Championships Training Camp from July 20 to 22. Athletes participating in the camp will wrap up the week by racing on July 23.

“The addition of an Olympic race to the Challenge Penticton line up ensures that athletes with different goals can race in Penticton,” said executive director Michael Brown in a press release. “The Olympic course allows athletes an excellent race experience on a storied course. Athletes looking for a leg up at the World Championships later this summer will have the chance to experience the course and be able to receive coaching from the incredible combination of Jasper Blake and Jeff Symonds.”

Blake, an Ironman Canada Champion and professional coach, teams up with Jeffrey Symonds, Ironman Asia Pacific Champion and 3x winner of Challenge Penticton, for the three-day camp that will see athletes through a series of swim, bike and run workouts and includes nutrition, lunch, fully-supported rides, world-class professional coaching and insider tips for ITU Multisport World Championships later in the summer.
