The Castlegar Rebels have doubled their point total on the season despite not outscoring any teams.

Brandon Costa had a goal and an assist Friday as the Rebels fell 6-3 in Nelson. Josh Wiens added a pair of assists and Davyn LaRockie made 18 saves.

On Saturday, the Rebels failed to blow up the Kimberley Dynamiters, dropping a 6-2 match. Tristan Jones and Brendan Skerratt scored for the Rebels. Kimberley outshot Castlegar 46-24.

However, a roster violation forced the Nelson Leafs to default their 5-1 win over Castlegar on Sept. 28. Defenceman Cole Jesnen played the game despite not having been given the green light by BC Hockey ahead of time.

Player stats from the game will still stand. Nelson is the second team this season to violate the roster rule. The North Okanagan Knights defaulted their second game of the season, also against Castlegar. The Rebels’ only points this season have so far come from the pair of default wins.

The Rebels’ record is officially listed as 2-7-0, leaving them last in the Neil Murdoch Division, three points back of Grand Forks.

Castlegar next sees action Friday at home against Kimberley at 7 p.m.
