Castlegar-Nelson team wins Creston’s 2016 Valentine Bonspiel

Twenty-eight teams played in the Creston Curling Centre’s 53rd annual Valentine Bonspiel on the weekend, with a Castlegar-Nelson team taking home the trophy in the A event. (Above) Laurie Heald presented the Creston and District Credit Union trophy to skip Loreen Amonson, third Lisa Nevacshonoff, second Marcie Stefiuk and lead Joanne Fenner.

A Cranbrook team earned the B event’s Macaulay Forestry trophy, which (above, from left) Carrie Macaulay presented to skip Frankie Reekie, third Kay Epp, second Marion Dixon, lead Ann McLaughlin and fifth Bev Raymond.

The C event honours also went to a Cranbrook team, with (above, from left) Dale Moberg presenting the Pyramid Building Supplies trophy to skip Kelly Epp, third Debbie Reed, second Kim Dick, lead Jeannette Sissons and fifth Connie Biddles.

The D event’s Columbia Brewery Trophy, presented by (above, from left) Colleen Hedlund, went to the Creston team of skip Carrie Czar, third Laurie Heald (who skipped last year’s D event winning team), third Kathy Sommerfeld and lead Amanda Latour.

Also earning a prize at the three-day event was Creston’s Sylvia Main, who won $200 donated by the Cavell Street Dental Clinic in a draw to the button.
