Castlegar golfer one off the lead in Vancouver

Al Cummings is leading in par-three scoring at the Special Olympics Canada National Golf Tournament.

Al Cummings and coach Ben Postmus will be attending the Canadian Special Olympics Golf Championships at the UBC course in Vancouver from Oct 2-6. Cummings was named to Team BC along with nine others from around the province to compete at this years national championships.

Castlegar golfer Al Cummings is one off the lead after round one of the Special Olympics Canada National Golf Tournament at the University Golf Club in Vancouver.

Cummings fired a 55 (+19 over nine holes) and leads in scoring on the par-three holes. He made par on both the 124-yard 11th and 110-yard 16th in yesterday’s round.

The M2 division that Cummings is in has an eight-man field with players from B.C., N.S., Sask. and Ont.

There is currently a three-way tie for the lead, with Jonathan Bolger and Matthew Borkowski of Ont. at +18 with Saskatchewan’s Joshua Bailey.

Cummings tee time Friday in the three-round event is 11:50 a.m.
