Oak Bay’s Castaway Wanderers hope to bring home the Barnard Cup Saturday, Dec. 5 when they face the University of Victoria Vikes on the rugby pitch at Wallace Field. Kick-off is at 1 p.m.

Also Saturday, Oak Bay Rec Centre hosts the Rogers Rookie Round-Robin Tournament. Stop by for some fun, recreational tennis. For information visit oakbay.ca.

On Sunday, Oak Bay runners can stay in their neighbourhood for the 36th annual Oak Bay Merrython 8k/4k run/walk at Henderson Rec Centre. The events start at 10 a.m. and race-day registration is available.

Victoria men’s field hockey continues strong this week with a series of games Sunday, Dec. 6. Beginning at noon, Rebels 1 play the Marauders, while Rebels 2 take on the Mutineers at 1:30 p.m., and at 3 p.m. the Hawks face Oak Bay. All games take place at UVic Field 1.

The women have an even busier week. Beginning Saturday, Dec. 5, the Devils play the Demons at 9:30 a.m., Lynx 3 play the Pirates at 11 a.m., the Flickers play the Patriots at 12:30 p.m. and the Lynx 1 face the Mariners at 2 p.m. The Blue Jays take on the Sailors at 3:30 p.m. and the Renegades finish the day against the Ravens at 5 p.m.

Swimming fans will want to head to Saanich Commonwealth Pool Friday, Dec. 4 to Sunday, Dec. 6 for the annual PCS Christmas Cracker swimming meet. Come out and support the UVic Vikes and all the local swimmers!

Division 1 men’s soccer opens for the week tonight (Friday) when Bays United 1 takes on Gorge FC at UVic at 8 p.m.

Looking ahead to spring, Victoria Minor Ball Hockey is accepting applications for head and assistant coaches in all divisions for the 2016 season. Find more information at www.vmbh.ca.

The Vikes seek nominations for UVic’s Hall of Fame in the categories of athlete, team, coach, builder or administrator. Inductees will be added to the newly-unveiled Lynda and Murray Farmer Walk of Excellence. Email vicvikes@uvic.ca.

The Victoria Cougars play three games this week, first hosting Campbell River Sunday, Dec. 6 at Archie Browning Rec Centre at 3:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Cougs face the Westshore Wolves at the Q Centre at 7 p.m., before hosting the Saanich Braves at Archie Browning Rec Centre on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.
