The Boundary Horse Association kicked off another season with recreational and heritage shows.
Wendy Price, president of the Boundary Horse Association, noted people can join the association without having any horse knowledge.
“In some sense yes, but you can join the association without being a horse person,” she said. “We do have some members who just joined because they enjoy horses but they don’t know a whole lot about them.”
Price enjoys the challenge, connection with the horses, relaxation and the partnership required between rider and horse.
“There’s a lot of stuff that I enjoy about riding horses,” she added. “It’s a horse-orientated club geared towards family fun, learning, some competition and some recreational. It’s an opportunity to connect with coaches and local horse people.”
The BHA hosted its annual Heritage Spring Show on May 11 to 13 and it was a general performance show with Eastern and Western dressage and jumping on Friday.
Saturday saw some English classes, while Sunday featured Western classes.
“This leads up to the Heritage finals down in Maple Ridge this year,” Price explained. “It’s a sanctioned event and we (had) people coming in from Kelowna, the South Okanagan, from the east Kootenays.”
Price pointed out that these events are good for people who are interested in learning about horses.
A non-profit organization, the Boundary Horse Association (BHA) focuses on family activities, along with horse shows and recreational shows.
