Vernon’s Austin Bosquet shot 74 Saturday to place second in the Junior Boys 17-19 division of the Boston Pizza-presented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour at the University Golf Club in Vancouver.
A full field of golfers enjoyed a great course and beautiful weather in the MJT Nationwide One Day Fall Series.
Josh Miller, 17, of Saanichton, carded a 73 to edge Bosquet. Miller reeled off five birdies for his first MJT victory.
Bosquet, 17, has qualified for a Future Collegians World Tour (FCWT) tournament, Jan. 3-4, at PGA West in Phoenix.
“We have once again seen a high level of participation and some outstanding results from junior golfers,” said Murray Poje, MJT Executive Director and PGA Professional. Tyler Leclair, 17, of North Vancouver, produced a 76 to finish third.
James Kim, 16, of Vancouver, fired a 73 to capture the Juvenile Boys 15-16 category.
“I got off to a poor start and the two players in my group seemed solid, but I battled back after two doubles,” said Miller. “The course was in great condition and the greens were awesome. I’m happy that all the hard work I put in throughout the summer is paying off.”
This was the final Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour stop in the country for the 2014 season. Qualified players move to the MJT Boston Pizza National Championship at The Legacy Golf Resort, Nov. 14-16, in Phoenix.
