Basketball playoff madness hits Ladysmith Secondary throughout February

High school plays host to three playoff tournaments

Why wait until March for basketball playoff madness when you can cheer on the local 49ers all this month right here at home as they vie for a berth into provincials.

Ladysmith Secondary School is hosting the Junior Boys (grades 9/10) District Championships which starts later today and continues through to Saturday.

The 49ers finished atop the league standings and have a first round bye so they won’t take to the court until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday in the semi-final game.

A positive result would then land them in tomorrow’s final at 5:30 p.m.

Late next week the Senior Girls basketball team, comprised of Grade 11 and 12 student-athletes, will host the AA North Island Championship from Feb. 8-10.

Thirsting for even more local hoops? Make sure to make it out Feb. 15-17 as the Senior Boys basketball team hosts the AA North Island Championship also at LSS.
