Abbotsford hockey star Dawson Good commits to Chilliwack Chiefs

After spending one more year playing major midget, the forward will play BCHL hockey in 2020-21.

The Chilliwack Chiefs have signed another top prospect, securing the services of Abbotsford’s Dawson Good for the 2020-21 BCHL season.

Good is a 2002-born five-foot-11 and 175 pound forward who will spend most of next season with the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League’s Fraser Valley Thunderbirds.

It’ll be his second year in the BCMMHL.

In 2018-19 he posted 17 goals and 51 points in just 39 games for Peter Hay’s squad. Good was called up to the Chiefs for two games and picked up his first junior A point in a Feb. 22 game at Prince George, assisting on a goal by Jacques Bouquot.

The 17 year old will see more action as an affiliate player this season and will spend time practising and training with the Chiefs before joining Chilliwack full-time in 2020-21.

“There is no doubt in my mind that he could be a regular contributor at the BCHL level this season, but Dawson has made the mature and educated decision to take one more season to focus on his studies as well as gaining strength as he prepares for his BCHL career.” said Chiefs associate coach and assistant general manager Brad Rihela. “Dawson is a character kid that comes from a great family, and this development plan will suit him well as he progresses as a player and person. We are lucky to be able to welcome Dawson and his family to the Chilliwack Chiefs.”
