The Abbotsford Falcons scored big in the Valley Community Football League championships, which wrapped up at Langley’s McLeod Field on Saturday.
Both the Falcons Peewee and Atom teams earned top prizes in their respective divisions.
The Atom Black team took down Meadowridge 56-32, and really took over the game in the second quarter.
Meadowridge had leads of 8-0 and 16-8, but the Falcons roared back late in the second quarter to lead 32-16 at halftime. Abbotsford led 40-24 after three to cruise to the win.
The championship win capped off a regular season that saw the club finish with a record of seven wins and one loss.
The Falcons Peewee White’s defence was on full display during that club’s championship game, limiting Meadowridge to just six points in a 14-6 title win.
Abbotsford led 8-6 after the first half, and then held Meadowridge pointless in the second half to capture the title.
The Peewee’s compiled a perfect record of seven wins and zero losses during VCFL regular season play, and only allowed 14 points all season long.
