’04 Pride win provincials

Defeat Fusion 10-3 in under-12 final.

The Ridge Meadows ‘04 Pride defeated the Langley Fusion 10-3 Sunday in the final of the B.C. under-12A softball championship at the Albion Sports Complex.

Shianne Schill started the game off with a triple in the first, and the Pride scored the five-run maximum in the inning.

Schill added two home runs, while Cassidy Affeldt hit one.

Shortstop Kylie Hendricks made a great catch, while all four Pride pitchers were strong throughout, said coach Sandy King.

The team played eight games in the provincials and were undefeated. The Pride scored 89 runs in all and allowed 15 against.

The pitching staff of Affeldt, Jesse Crocket, Jayme Perry and Riley Morrison dominated opposing hitters, striking out 46 while walking just 14 over the weekend.

Rachel Boles, Gabi Fafard and Kyla Carlson were standouts behind the plate.

Defensively, both the infielders and outfielders were dialed in, King said.

“The infield of Jesse Crockett, Fafard, Hendricks, Perry, Morrison and Schill performed exceptionally throughout the tournament.”

Kylie Birnie, Chloe Follett and Reese McCambley were also solid in the field.

“McCambley’s diving catch in right field had the crown going wild.”

Equally spectacular catches were made by Gabi Fafard and Morrison in the semi-final against the White Rock Renegades.

Helping King coach were Glen Follett, Rya Perry and Kira Quinnell.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The final game against the Fraser Valley Fusion ‘04 was intense however the girls of Pride ‘04 pulled together, worked hard and emerged victorious.  The final score was 10-3.
