Great that the city, “wink wink,” took the initiative to remove the sea lion carcass from the park foreshore.
Either the feds or the province have a mandate to do these cleanups of nuisance carcasses or they do not. If they don’t then the city should act and ensure it is done and pick up the tab. However, if these cleanups fall under the mandate of either a federal or provincial ministry, the responsible government then should be billed for all costs attributed to the cleanup. This is just another download of costing to local governments.
Our local MP and MLA should be able to answer this simple question. Someone, however, has to ask the question before either will step forward to address the question. It would be nice to hear what our elected officials have to say.
