John remained single and left no offspring.

After the death of John Senior in 1885 the 200-acre lot was divided between Samuel and John Jr., with John getting the north half.

John remained single and left no offspring.

He offered his brother Albert a share of his allotment in 1917, but the pull of the West was too strong for Albert to resist, and he changed his mind after a brief stay at home.
