To the Editor:

I, for one, appreciate Cyril Colonel’s efforts to have a somewhat maintained road to the southern end of Duck Lake (“Duck Lake not accessible to all”).

I think some extra funding has to be found beyond what the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area can afford. It doesn’t have extra monetary resources anymore and has to put some present projects, which are necessary, on hold.

Personally, I believe the CVWMA’s rules of access to Leach Lake are the right call. The top (farthest in) half of the road systems in Leach Lake are incapable of handling vehicle traffic without quickly becoming quagmires. As it is now, they are excellent cycling, hiking and cross-country skiing roads.

I encourage bikers to access the area. It is an easy and enjoyable ride.

Keep up the good work, Cyril. You have been an excellent ambassador for the Creston area for many years.
