Two hours to vote in Qualicum Beach

What a fiasco the advance poll was in Qualicum Beach. A friend was driven there with other seniors only to find a two-hour wait. They left.

I went at 5:30 p.m. to find a wait of 90 minutes. It was Thanksgiving weekend and a lot of us had plans so we wanted to vote the first day.

There were two tables, one with three staff and one with two staff divided by the numbers on the voting cards. One staff took your card and picture ID with your address on it and moved you to the third staff.

She had a computer printout with names and addresses which she then held a ruler under your name and then wrote your name and address by hand. They have this information on two printed forms, plus your ID and they are handwriting it.

This is 2015 and they had four years to prepare. I have been voting since the early 1960s and cannot remember such a disaster. When I suggested that to the one in charge she blamed us for wanting to vote in the advance poll.

I’m very concerned that the people who left will not return and vote. This is not something that can be redone in this election. It is a very serious matter.
